How to prevent your dog from eating poisoned food
Your dog is a threat to burglars? Then his life is also at risk . One of the major causes of death in dogs is poisoned food . many "excellent trained dogs" have lost their precious life to poisoned food either tossed over the fence by potential intruders or foods left for rodents to eat and die .
Many methods have been used to achieve this ; some effective, some not firm enough and others seemingly cruel . One of such methods is the use of two tiny insulated wires with a pair end attached to a 15v battery and the other pair end attached to a piece of raw meat . The wired meat is strategically placed near the fenced terrain. The wires should be passed into a PVC pipe so it could be concealed away from the dogs view . A little salt could be added to the meat to aid conductivity. Release the dog and provide it the opportunity to discover the meat itself . The dog put its mouth and get shocked . Place the meat around each corner of the house to provide the dog the opportunity everywhere in the house . This method was discovered by William Koehler and it has received its fair share of criticism however effective .
Another easy method is the use of a modern equipment called e-collar . This comes with a shock unit and a remote controller . The shock unit is placed around the dogs neck and the dog is allowed to pick food planted on the floor , the controller is then used to pass a current to the dogs neck through the shock unit . The shock should be mild but firm enough to stop the dog from eating . What this teaches the dog is that food on the floor causes shock on the neck . Its an aversive form of training and it will help save the life of your precious dog.
